Soul Clincs

SOUL CLINICS is a movement within the Christian church which believes that there is much to receive from other spiritual paths and that God is speaking to us through contemporary spirituality as well as the traditional ways of Scripture, sacrament and fellowship.
We organise Spirituality Fairs and hold stalls at Body, Mind and Spirit events, can give talks to groups, lead worship or offer spiritual direction to individuals.

Soul Clinics is led by Pauline Warner, a Methodist minister, who is currently working full time on this project. She found the name Soul Clinics in a small Welsh church (the story is told on 'How did it all begin?').

Because Pauline is working in Warwickshire, most of the events we have arranged have been in that area. We believe that might be significant because it is the very heart of England itself (See Opening Up the Heart of England). But we are keen to be invited to other parts of the country as well!   Pauline is using the work as part of her research work at Manchester University and is particularly keen to hear more stories of people who have had an experience of meeting Jesus while engaged in any non-Church spiritual exercise (See Are you a Jesus-loving alternative?).

The biggest piece of work being done by Soul Clinics at the moment is that Pauline is writing a course introducing the Christian faith to those travelling on other spiritual paths and introducing other spiritualities to those who are walking the Christian path.  She didn't want it to be simply an academic course - this work has to be done with heart as well as head - and so hit on the idea of doing it as a recipe book where you can start at whatever page you like. Those of us who belong to Soul Clinics do believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the key to 'life, the universe and everything'.  But we are not sure that his Church always does justice to him. That is not a criticism of others because most of us are members of the church and so are a part of the problem. Jesus loved nothing more than eating - he got the reputation of being a wine bibber and a glutton - and the one group of people he could not get along with were those who thought they did everything right religiously. Following the example of Jesus of  Nazareth, Soul Clinics came into being and we invite others to spend some time sharing spiritual food with us.
